Some Dubai Weather

this is a bit of weather we've had the past 24 hours. i post it here as it was a surprise to me to see this kind of day in the desert. this is the second of such occasion here in the past six months.

i've travelled a few places over here & over there. i've had to alter my way of seeing the world, & change my ways of participating. this probably explains my draw to veganism. my untethered canadianism. this, & that i don't like the process of neatly labelling my life, or my beliefs. i suppose i remain quite influenced by my generation, though not the mainstream. my goal now, as it has always been, is to simply understand the world in which we live, & leave a positive impression.

i've always been interested in anything someone has teach, so i'm a student of much, but have mastered nothing. i have so many interests & hobbies that it is difficult to choose one on which to focus. i have dabbled in photography, natural dyeing, Korean ink painting, vegan & ethnic cooking & baking, gardening & herbalism. i am very interested in yoga, & anything environmental, natural building & renewable energy. i have a long list of arts & crafts I would love to have another lifetime to learn: pottery, fibre art, crotchet to name a few. i have studied music (piano, clarinet, voice, Korean zither, cello), Korean embroidery & horticulture. i began studying metal smithing, but it is on hold as i am presently living in Dubai. I love to read on all subjects, & am guilty of collecting books on my favs. though my list of interests is long, I am drawn to cloth & needle & thread. The handling of silks, cottons & linens is very organic. The action of sewing by hand is both meditative & mindful.

this will be my 2nd blog under the same title. previously, my 'focus' was scattered, though the material all related, as everything in the world is, but i had much more of an environmental bend, & was too attentive to the time-consuming html. that blog began as a journal for people at home, & blossomed into a repository of interests, photos & life in Korea. i'm now trying to simplify my blog, to concentrate on the content... hobbies with an eco-holistic awareness, &, of course, photos of our travels.
